Castell d'Encus, 'Acusp' Pinot Noir

“High-density vines, very special soils, and extreme mountain viticultural conditions require a gardener’s attentive care to bring the best grapes for this elegant Pinot Noir."

- Raül Bobet,  owner & winemaker of Castell d'Encus

Hand harvested and using small boxes of 10kg, the grapes for this 100% Pinot Noir come exclusively from a single estate vineyard. This wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks and in open-air stone vats from the 12th century (carved by monks directly into the mountainside). All the wine underwent malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels.

Acusp comes from latin ‘cuspis’ and means the top of a mountain. Raül has found this word in the first texts that refer to Castell d’Encus. The Pinot Noir vineyards of Castell d'Encus are situated on the Encus mountain range.
